Munib R. Masri
Munib R. Masri was born in Nablus, Palestine in 1934. He graduated with honors from the University of Texas in 1955 with a degree in Petroleum Geology and in 1956 he received a Masters Degree in Geology and Government from Sul Ross University.
In 1956, he commenced work in Jordan with E.W. Pauley and Phillips Petroleum Company, as a Geologist, and was promoted to Manager in 1960, and to President of Phillips Petroleum Co. in Algeria in 1963.
In 1963, he took a sabbatical leave from Phillips to take up an appointment with the Jordanian Government to act as a special consultant supervising the execution of major public projects in Jordan.
In 1965 he returned to Phillips as a General Manager, based in Beirut, Lebanon, responsible for 16 countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
In 1970, he was offered the portfolio of Minister of Public Works in the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in which he served until 1971 and later the same year left the employment of Phillips Petroleum Co.
In 1958, in parallel with his other activities, he founded the Jordan Office for Engineering and Geological Services.
In 1971, he resumed full time duty as Chairman / CEO of the Edgo Group until the present. Edgo has evolved over the years into a multi disciplinary and multi national integrated network of companies comprising of 29 entities operating primarily in the Middle East and Africa. Edgo's diverse activities include contracting, industrial development, trading, distribution and representation, project development, operation and maintenance, and project financing.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of several leading companies, banks and investment houses in the Middle East and Europe, most notably the Arab Bank plc and various of its subsidiaries, for which he is Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is Founder and current Chairman of PADICO which is a $200M capital company formed to invest in infrastructure and industry in Palestine. He is a member of the World Bank's Council of Advisers for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region.
He is an active member of various National and International institutions as well as various cultural and philanthropic organisations. He is on the Board of Trustees at the American University of Beirut (AUB).
Munib R. Masri is married to Angela with six children; Rabih, Mai, Mazen, Dina, Omar and Leith.
