Fouad Makhzoumi co-chairs the Executive Committee of the International Board of the U.S. / Middle East Project. Mr. Fouad Makhzoumi has both an undergraduate and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.

In 1984 Mr. Makhzoumi founded Future Pipe Industries with factories in 14 Countries.  He became Chief Executive Officer in 1986 until 2003 when his late son Rami Makhzoumi, assumed the role before he passed away in 2011.

Between 1995 and 1997, Mr. Makhzoumi served as the President of the International Desalination Association and he has been a member of the International Board of the U.S./Middle East Project since 1996. From 1995 until 1998, Mr. Makhzoumi acted as Vice Chairman of the Institute for Social and Economic Policy in the Middle East at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In 1997 Mr. Makhzoumi founded the Makhzoumi Foundation, a private Lebanese non-profit organization that contributes through its vocational training, health care , micro-credit and development programs to the Lebanese civil society's development and empowerment. Over 600,000 beneficiaries have so far benefited from the Foundation's offerings. In 2004, Mr. Makhzoumi founded the National Dialogue Party, a Lebanese multi-confessional Political Party

Mr. Makhzoumi has been the Executive Chairman of Future Pipe Industries since 2003. He reassumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2011. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters in 2016 from the Lebanese American University.
